Can I Also Monetize In Meta(Facebook)?

How to Monetize on Meta(Facebook)

You can monetize through Meta(Facebook) in various ways, but the conditions for monetization are stricter than other platforms.

Let's learn about monetization methods and the conditions that must be met for each method.

There are roughly 5 ways to monetize in Meta

1. In-Stream Ads (On-demands, Live)

2. Brand Collabs

3. Subscriptions

4. Stars

5. Instant Articles

How to Check Monetization Eligibility

Monetization eligibility requirements apply to any Facebook tools that allow you to make money from your content.

Your monetization eligibility can be affected by a combination of factors, but Creator Studio gives you a quick way to keep track of your eligibility status.

1. Go to Facebook section in Creator Studio.

2. Select the Monetization tab, then click Overview.

While the steps to monetize on Facebook are easy to activate, achieving them takes a lot more effort.

So now, let’s find out what you need for each monetization method.

In-stream ads

In-stream ads are the hardest to get certified for. Short ads can be included into your videos, and you can earn money from the ads.

To secure ads before, during, and after your Facebook videos (for which you’ll be paid!), you need to:

●Have a Facebook Page rather than a personal profile. You’re the Page’s admin, too.
Have at least five active videos, all more than a minute in length. You also need at least 600,000 minutes of views in the last 60 days. If you want to monetize Live videos, at least 60,000 of those minutes need to come from Live broadcasts; three of your minimum five videos also need to have come from Live sessions.
Have at least 10,000 followers.

Brand Collabs Manager

If you become a Bran Collabs Manager, you can earn from paid partnership with other brands.

This is much more achievable than in-stream ads, and helps give you an identity. If you partner with a brand that chimes with your content, your channel will receive more of brand identity. To get paid for making content in collaboration with brands you need to meet following criteria:

A Facebook Page, just like for in-stream ads.
Meet Facebook’s Partner Monetization and Branded Content Policies.
At least 1,000 followers.
At least one of the following in the last 60 days: 15,000 post engagements, 180,000 minutes viewed, or 30,000 one-minute views of three-minute videos.

Brads search for creators they feel are best-suited to their campaigns from the “Brand Collabs Manager” section. By exposing your brand on this section will give you more chance of good collaboration opportunity.

Subscriptions

Subscription model is also worth considering if you have plenty of followers. Your followers will pay a monthly fee to receive exclusive contents. If they subscribe via desktop, you receive 100% of the subscription fee, minus any taxes. If they sign up via Android or iOS, you get 70%, as the rest goes to the mobile provider. To get in on the action, you need to:

  • Have a Facebook Page for which you’re the admin.
  • Meet Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policy and Fan Funding Creator Terms, alongside Apple's App Store Guidelines for Subscriptions.
  • Have at least 10,000 followers, or more than 250 return viewers.
  • Have either 50,000 post engagements or 180,000 minutes watched in the last 60 days.
  • A Page in an eligible country, such as the US, UK, Germany, or India. If you’re not in an eligible country, then Subscription activation is invite-only.

Stars

If you’re a big dog creator, you might be given the option to use Facebook Stars. Facebook Live viewers can buy Stars and gift them to you during streams – you receive a small amount of money for every star!

(*Stars are invite-only)

Instant Articles

You can monetize Instant Articles through ads using Audience Network

Facebook Audience Network is an in-app advertising network for mobile apps. Advertisers can serve up their ads to customers who are using mobile sites and apps other than Facebook, extending their reach beyond the platform while still getting to use Facebook.

To integrate Audience Network ads within your Instant Articles, you need something called ‘Placement ID,’  which is an individual ad unit that requests ads from Audience Network.

You can generate placement IDs for Instant Articles from:

Creator Studio > Monetization > Instant Articles > Settings

Copy the Placement ID , and Embed Audience Network ad tags in your article, using the op-ad class. These ads are served within a webview when they scroll into the reader’s view.
